There are some words in the English language that never seem to look right to me. Poignant is one such word. Even when I type it on a page, I want to double check my spelling of this word. The letters don’t appear to go together correctly. Strangely enough, even when I try to use this word in conversation, it seems to get stuck on my tongue. It almost comes out in 3 syllables rather than 2.

Maybe today I will practice using poignant in my dialog more. Maybe then, the word will become more natural to me. Maybe then, I won’t wake up at 3 am with the word going round and round in my head and demanding my attention. Yes, I am feeling a little poignant – right now.

I am an aspiring writer coming into my writing career later in life. As an accomplished entrepreneur, wife, mother and grandmother, I bring a wealth of experiences to my writing. Loving challenges and change, I embrace this new path with my custom focus and involvement, starting with research and education. Believing that you can never stop learning has kept me young and fresh throughout my life. This new venture is no exception.
